Wash Hand Basins
Our ceramic wash basins are thoughtfully designed for everyday use and individually handcrafted in our Highland workshop. Some are formed from rich black clay, left raw and unglazed on the exterior, with smooth, glass-like glazes within. Others are hand-built using a double-wall construction, creating a sculptural form with a strong sense of depth and presence. More recently, I have been developing fully glazed textured stoneware basins.
No two basins are ever the same. Each piece is individually made and reflects an ongoing process of experimentation and development, with forms, surfaces, colours and decorative elements constantly evolving.
While I do not undertake custom commissions, I am happy to consider general requests regarding colour palettes and decoration. For example, I can often create work featuring blues, greens, pinks or lighter tones, and simple motifs such as birds in flight or floral designs, which frequently appear in my work. However, every basin remains a unique piece and exact specifications cannot be guaranteed.
Basins are available individually or as complete units with custom-made metal frames and hardwood tops and shelves. The frames are handmade in-house by my partner, carefully welded and finished with a durable spray coating. Oak tops and shelves are crafted from reclaimed whisky barrels, then planed, joined, and finished for lasting strength and beauty. Tops are also available in stained and sealed larch or meranti.

We also keep a range of basins and stands at our workshop in Ardersier. While we do not have a visitor gallery, appointments can be arranged to view or collect pieces—please get in touch to organise a visit.
Basins can be posted, although collection or local delivery is preferred. We no longer offer shipping on stands. Stands are available for collection from our Ardersier workshop, or we can personally deliver to most mainland Scotland locations. Please get in touch to discuss delivery options.
