House for an Art Lover: Christmas Exhibition, December 2009
The House for an Art Lover building is a beautiful interpretation taken from a series of drawings by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. It was created by skilled craftsmen in the 1990s in Bellahouston Park in Glasgow. This work was made for the Christmas exhibition and depicts a flock of swallows migrating south for the winter. There are 48 cups in the series, each one unique in form and surface design. The pots were thrown using white earthenware clay with coloured clay additions and imagery was applied with a combination of inlay and screen printed transfers. A selection of the cups can be found for sale here.
